Really excited about the fashion shoot I just did with photographer Adam Pass.
Photos are in the editing stage… just 1700 frames to look through!

It’s a little late to try convincing you I don’t like this app after 14,168 check ins. Clearly it plays on my user loyalty. :-D So why quit?

Foursquare’s developers have made a series of moves that made me lose interest. Me, Miss 14k. If I’ve lost interest, I’m sure the 2ks quit long ago.

So what were the dealbreakers?

1- The “game” of Foursquare became a secondary feature. The original appeal for me was competition – against my friends for points, to grab mayorships, badges, and even against myself. I enjoyed trying to remember where my past check ins were and check in consistently (like the game Concentration) in order to gain the Mayorship, if even on a drive-by.

2- They changed the UI to become unusable. Then changed it again, and again, and again. A checkin was two clicks, then one click, then two forward and one back… I can’t adopt a product if it’s fluid.

3- There’s one big “search” field, and I have no idea what it searches. It’s useless. I’ve tried it a few times to find the nearest Starbucks, seafood restaurant, parking lot, Foursquare friends… I can be in front of a restaurant and it isn’t suggested to me when I search “restaurants.”

4- This “social media” stream is anything but social. There is very little interactivity or engagement with friends. There’s a “heart this” & “leave comment” button. Whoopeedoo.

Where is the value for me, Foursquare developers? I’m your early adopter, your power user. Who is this core user that you are trying to engage by changing the UI as often as you change your undies?

I believe there is plenty of room left for more social media streams in the cyber world. I’d love to see something new, where I can engage in a new way with a new network. But Foursquare won’t be it; no, it’ll merely be a button that you hit when you want to add a location to your Instagram check ins.

Foursquare is an afterthought because they made themselves one. #EpicFail

It’s as if Raybans have a 5-on/10-off fashion lifecycle… a half decade hot, then a decade not. Late 80’s yes, but in the late 90’s they felt outdated.

Guess they’re back in fashion, cuz a model friend was wearing this pair that conveniently folded down to fit in her tiny pocket. I borrowed, I posed, and I must have a pair!

From an angle, this frame shape looks good on everyone.

Model Tip: turning your head at a slight angle to the camera is more forgiving than shooting straight-on.

 Warby Parker Glasses

In the past it’s been easier to get a mail order bride than mail order glasses. That’s changed with eyeglass designer Warby Parker’s Home Try-On program.

My friend Jeff messaged me today asking for advice on what glasses shape would be best for his face, and I told him “ask the people who are only too happy to insult you – your friends.” Friends give the best input on what looks good, but that means you need the glasses in-hand.

Warby Parker crafts modern-but-not-too-trendy eyewear (just saying you have Warby Parkers will make you appear hip) priced around $100 per prescription pair. They also have non-prescript and sunglasses.

And for every pair sold they give a pair to someone in need. It’s a charity 2-fer and that’s the best part of all!

HOME TRY-ONS:  5 Pairs, 5 Days, 100% Free  >>
They’ll send you up to 5 pairs of glasses to try on at home for 5 days free, and include a pre-paid return shipping label to send them back with no obligation to buy. Easy peasy!

What happens in New York City over the course of a day? People come, people go. People eat, people shop. Meh, not so interesting… until it’s mapped out in a time-lapse video of Foursquare check-ins. Mesmerizing!

I know it sounds too good to be true, but it’s real.

My Mom turned me on to eBates and I’ve gotten $300+ cash back so far. Yay, free money! Thanks Mom

two door cinema club this is the life
Vibin’ this new song by Two Door Cinema Club. Actually, the entire album rocks. They’re coming to Hammerstein Ballroom NYC in concert this Fall. I’m so there!
I have my eye on this outfit for the Fall. Also, I want this model’s hair
We are so accustomed to computer-generated graphics, it’s hard to believe this is 100% human-generated beauty! Like the song in the video? I did, so I bought it! You can find more music by Yasmine Hamdan here. I wonder if she’s considered Qatar pop? THE CHALLENGE:  Prove ‘The Power of X’ by attempting an Idea Worth Doing to open TEDxSUMMIT in Doha, Qatar. WE ARE Pi collaborated with the Koener Union and Paris’ BIG Productions. Together, they fused architecture, dance, math and magic into a bespoke18-meter high triangular mirrored structure that hovered over a multi-colour moving floor to create the world’s first Human Arabesque (with no computer graphics). Just wow!
To me, what defines a successful Calvin Klein collection is whether Creative Director Francisco Costa manages to walk the fine line of strong versus ladylike fashion while maintaining his slant towards sensuality as opposed to sexuality. The Calvin Klein label has always been minimalist, but for a while I felt it was going too structured. Everything had a belted waistline, structured collar, A-line cut, or a combination of the three! I’m old-school Calvin, I don’t want fussy, I’m looking for simple modernity, delicate fabrics, and flattering cuts that can cross over in my lifestyle between daytime casual and evening sexy. The Calvin Klein Women’s Spring 2012 Collection offers just the right balance for classy women who want a touch of feminine innocence but still desire strong shapes. I’m coveting the spaghetti-strap slip dresses that could be worn with sandals for a day in the sun, paired with a jacket for tailored evening, and even worn for bedtime lounging. From Hamptons to St. Barths, Miami to Santa Monica – these work. Reminiscent of the nightgown trend circa 1998, I’m back in love.

at first glance, this is just another crazy japanese pop video… until you realize that it isn't pop, it's the 95lb pop "singer" HRP-4C !

I heard through the model grapevine today that Prabal Gurung is looking for a fit model for the dress he's designing…. for our First Lady Michelle Obama.

Never heard of him? I predict you soon will…

My choices from his Spring 2010 Collection for Mrs. Obama:
